New Delhi. The monsoon has covered almost 70% of the country. After soaking the south and northeast states, the monsoon has now become active in the eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. The entry of monsoon in these three states has already taken place on 14 June. There has been good rainfall in these areas for 2 days. It can also knock in Uttarakhand in the next 24 hours. However, it may take another 2 to 3 days to reach the capital Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and western Uttar Pradesh.

How much rain has been received in the country since pre-monsoon and monsoon?

The country has received good rainfall since pre-monsoon and monsoon. Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar have received more than 60% of normal rainfall. For the first three weeks i.e. between June 1 and June 22, 28% of the 681 districts in the country i.e. 191 districts have received more than 60% of normal rainfall. 23% of the districts received 20-59% more rainfall than normal.

Where have the monsoons reached so far?

The southwest monsoon reached Kerala on 1 June. Between 4 and 10 June, it reached Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. In the next five days, by June 15, the monsoon covered more than half of the country.

The speed of the monsoon so far has been very good. It reached Gujarat before time. In Madhya Pradesh and eastern Uttar Pradesh too, it knocked a week ahead of time. However, it took more than 5 days to reach the northeastern states. The monsoon usually reaches 8 states in the Northeast by 5 June. This time it arrived here on 10 June.

Where to reach?

The monsoon has not yet reached the northwestern parts of the country. However, there have been intermittent pre-monsoon rains here. At present, in Uttarakhand, it will knock on June 23 itself.
Monsoon will reach Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab between June 24 and 25. With this, monsoon rains can be seen in most parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh by June 25.
In Rajasthan, it is expected to reach by June 25, but if it does not happen, then people may have to wait till June 30 for the monsoon.
